Monteverde is a private nature reserve located at an altitude of 1500 to 1850 meters. The reserve is especially worth a visit because of the cloud forests. These cloud forests are called the most beautiful cloud forests in Costa Rica and are so attractive because of the lush plant growth caused by the high humidity. The hanging plants such as ferns, mosses and orchids give the heavy and whimsical trees in the cloud forests a unique appearance. As many as 70 different plant species can grow on just one trees, which gives the forest a unique look.
The plants and trees in Monteverde
Monteverde has been called one of the most beautiful natural parks in Costa Rica by specialists, mainly because of the versatility of the flora and fauna in the park. Not only are the cloud forests worthwhile, but no fewer than 1500 different plants grow in this special park.
To get to know the nature in the park, you can take a hike through the reserve. This can be done with a guide, but you can also do it independently. A special walk that is certainly worthwhile is the hanging bridge walk through the park, where you can walk through the canopy of the trees. Another popular walk near the park is an evening walk. The animals in Monteverde
There are no fewer than four hundred different (special) bird species in Monteverde, including the bellbird and the famous Resplendent Quetzal. It is possible to spot hummingbirds, which come to the feeding bottles in the park and are therefore easy to photograph when you walk through the park. In addition to various (special) bird species, there are also curly-tailed bears and howler monkeys in the park. Due to the presence of all those different bird species, the nature reserve is truly a paradise for bird watchers.
