The Corcovado park is a natural park located on the Osa Peninsula in the south of Costa Rica. The park is primarily known for its diversity of flora and fauna and it is a must-see visit if you are long enough in Costa Rica.
Corcovado: a rugged park with untouched nature
If you compare Corcovado National Park with other nature parks in Costa Rica, this one is clearly rougher than others. This is because there is still a lot of untouched nature, so making a hike through the nature park can be quite tough. If you want to walk through the nature park, then you need at least good walking shoes and a good condition. Making the tough walk is really worth it, because the plants and animals you come into contact with are very diverse and sometimes very rare. For example, you can spot tapirs, 4 different types of monkeys and wild swines, but also special plants that you hardly encounter in other parts of the country.
The beaches at Corcovado
In the immediate surroundings of the Corcovado National Park you will find several deserted beaches. If you really want to relax on a beach and avoid the hustle and bustle of the tourist beaches, visiting the deserted beaches at Corcovado is definitely worth it. Diving and snorkeling is possible at Caño island, where you can also come into contact with whales and dolphins. If you stay in Corcovado National Park, you will really be away from civilization for a few days.
